  1. Am I obligated to allow you to use my property if I list with you?
No. You always have the right to either allow your property to be used for specific dates or projects or not. We would like it if you notify us if your property is going to be unavailable for a significant length of time or if your property changes significantly from the original pictures that were sent.

  2. What are my obligations?
If you choose to allow your property to be used for a specific project then you are obligated to allow the crew full access to the space agreed upon. Many times the crew will completely change a space around, however they are obligated to leave your space like they found it or better than they found it. For example, if the art director determined that your yard needed flowers by the front door for the shoot they will often give you the option of keeping the flowers if you want them.

  3. How much will I be paid for use of my property?
Day rates vary by property and the type of production it is. Typically we do not list any properties for less than $1000 per 10 hour day. We can discuss how much we think we can list your property for on an individual basis.

  4. What is a typical scenario if someone is interested in my property?
Atlanta Locations will be contacted and usually given a list of a handful of properties that a client is possibly interested in. We will contact you to make sure that your property is available for the requested dates. Typically someone (usually us) will come out to do an initial scout of your property. After the initial scout if the client chooses your property we will call you and let you know. The client will then come out, usually a day or two before the shoot to do a technical scout of your property.

  5. Will I be paid for scouting of my property?
No. Usually scouting takes very little time. You will only be paid for the actual days that your property is used.

  6. Who will pay me and when will I be paid for the use of my property?
Atlanta Locations will pay you. We request to be paid for the location the first day of the shoot and as soon as we receive a check we send you your check. We are your agent. Money should never be discussed with the client.

  7. Does Atlanta Locations charge me for being my agent?
No. You do not get charged anything ever for listing your property with us.

  8. How does Atlanta Locations make money?
We charge our clients a percentage of what we list your property for. Additionally we make money from scouting and managing locations.

  9. How am I protected?
We require a minimum of 1 million dollars liability insurance from our clients. We will have an insurance certificate from our clients on file specifically stating that your property is covered for the duration of the time that the client is at your property. We will be happy to provide you a copy of the insurance certificate upon request.

  10. Do you make my name and contact information public?
No. We never make your information public. We will list pictures of your property on our site but we will not list any other information. We are the middle man. A client has to contact us to get any information about your property.

Tips and Tricks - Photographing Your Property

The pictures of your property need to make a good first impression. Below are tips that will help you take the best pictures possible:

Photographing the exterior:

  1. When possible make sure and include pictures of the entire house or structure you are shooting. Also include close ups of interesting or unique features of your home.
  2. Set your camera on the landscape setting. This will keep more of the picture in focus than the people setting.
  3. Take pictures of the yard, pool, gardens, old barns, anything outside that someone may help someone choose your location.
  4. In the front, back and sides of the home take a full range of shots. For example, in the front yard you would want to take a minimum of 4 shots. 1 towards the street, 1 toward each of your neighbors. That way, between the 4 images, you are providing a full 360 degree view of the front of your home.

Photographing the interior:

  1. Use a tripod when possible and do not use the on camera flash.
  2. Turn on all available lights in the room you are photographing
  3. When possible, photograph around sunrise or sunset so that the light in the room more closely matches the light outside.
  4. Get as much of the room in the shot as possible. You can take tighter shots of things in the room that make it unique like an ornate mantle for example but always include shots that give a good view of the entire room.
  5. Do not have people or pets in the pictures you take.
  6. Include pictures of as many rooms as possible. You never know what a client might be looking for.
  7. Shoot on landscape mode when possible. That will ensure more of the image is in focus.

General

  1. Do not do anything to the pictures digitally such as write the name of the room on the image. If you want to communicate what a photo is to us you can do it in the file name or you can put images in individual folders, zip the files and send it to us. Or just do nothing. Send the files over and we'll walk through them on the phone if we need further explanation.
  2. If you are emailing the photos, our email server will not allow files larger than 7 megabytes. You can either optimize the photos or you can send multiple emails.
  3. If you are more comfortable with uploading your photos to a free site like Kodak or Snapfish then that's fine too. Upload the photos and send us an invitation to view your photos.
